About Us

In 1996 a number of interested citizens from the region had meetings in regards to forming a Community Arts Council and hosted a few concerts. In 1999 the Arts Council was named “Prairie Vision Arts Council” and is designated as a not-for-profit charitable organization.

The Mission of the Prairie Vision Arts Council is to foster the development of art and cultural activities in the community.

The Prairie Vision Arts Council represents the Town of Melita and the RM of Two Borders.

The PVAC sponsors concerts, dramas/plays/musicals, arts and skills classes, dance club, travelling art displays among other arts activities.

The PVAC purchased the Strand Theatre in Melita in March of 2011 and since then have installed a new projector, screen, sound equipment, gas furnaces and air conditioners. Many building upgrades have also been made.

The three bedroom apartment at the back of the theatre has been renovated to include meeting rooms, dressing rooms, costume storage rooms and a makeup room.

All in all the PVAC is a good venue to bring people of the Southwest Corner Manitoba together and to offer a better quality of life for each and everyone.
